Why Do I Blog?

Once again I’m pondering the reasons why I blog, what I want to do with my blog, and specific goals for cyberspace communication.

This is an uncomfortable exercise for me, because I’m more of a ‘seat of my pants’ planner. Setting goals makes me accountable, and who wants to be held accountable at my age?

I blog because I like to write, I like the feedback I receive when someone let’s me know they read my post (my ego needs feeding on a regular basis), and I like the connections I make with other bloggers and readers. I’ve moved into a community filled with witty people, smart people, talented people, creative people, thoughtful people, driven people, retirees, workers, youngsters, seniors, in-betweens, people in pain, and those working their way through pain.

This community doesn’t require much from me: perhaps some consistency, consideration of others’ feelings, a bit of respect, and a message that adds to a conversation or starts a new one.

Having said all that, I’m down to goal setting. So, what are the 3 things I most want to accomplish with my blog…my wildest blog dreams?

  1. 2,000 followers by the end of 2018
  2. Post on my blog at least 5 days a week
  3. Host a blog challenge by September 30, 2016

Whew…now that’s done, and even though I broke out in a hot sweat (not a hot flash), I am still alive and breathing.

I hope these goals don’t require me to actually ‘work’ at blogging. I’m having such a good time playing with my blog, I don’t want to lose my childlike fascination with this adult daycare environment.

  1. Blog for the love of it first. Make connections. Have fun. Don’t let your blog get the best of you. Don’t worry about number of followers so much, if you do regular posts they will come. Tag surf and find other donors that you can establish relationships with. All of this will happen in time.

      1. You are so much fun to follow, you always make me laugh. I have 34 ppl who follow me so, I’m not as much fun as you in words..lol
Those questions for “to do” are always so hard to come up with. I think you did a great job.
My kids think my blogging is so stupid, if I listen to them I’d have 34 less friends, so I keep doing it. If I would have listen to my friends I wouldn’t have 4 kids either. Live and learn! 🙂

  2. Thanks for those kind words. The more I write the more confident I become in my humor. I encourage you to just write what feels right for you. Often I think some force takes over my fingers and what appears on the paper is totally new to me. Let it flow and keep blogging.

  3. Inspiring goals. I was hesitant about participating in the “bloggingbranding” community, but after reading your post, I’m in! You go, girl!

    1. I am enjoying this…much more than I thought I would. Now I’m trying to figure out how to put it on twitter, and other social media. Just don’t know how to do that.
