Hurricane Harvey has sent me a message: Stay Away.
And I am heeding his soggy voice.
I’m back on U.S. soil, but not home, since the creek did rise to a new stage of flooding. Hope to get back to my abode by Thursday, if the creek seeks lower levels and the roads are passable.
Pictures of my town La Grange, TX have been shown by the national media, and lots of damage has been done from rising water. So far no deaths have been reported, so the damage has been to people’s homes, businesses, and the city and county roads and bridges. All of those can be replaced, so we are fortunate.
Please send positive thoughts and lots of prayers for the people in Houston and eastward as the storm heads that direction.
Meanwhile, I’m taking another few days of vacation with my feet up enjoying blue skies above.
Thanks Harvey for the warning…I’ll come home when the creeks aren’t rising’.
Saying a prayer that your house is alright – enjoy the rays of sunshine while you can

I am glad you are safe and that you heeded Harvey. Of course i have been appalled by the pictures coming out of your home place. You are right – no lives lost is the main thing but rebuilding homes and business is not fun and my heart goes out to you all.

Thanks Osyth. This is going to be a community challenge that we all face, but together we can get through it.

So sorry to hear and read about the flooding.
Yesterday Eight of my family were due to fly to to Houston for a holiday. Had major problems with the unhelpful airline, but eventually the destination was changed to Las Vegas.five are children so I’m sure they’ll find plenty to do there.

Certainly they will have lots more fun in Vegas. Rowing a boat through nasty water does not make for a great vacation!

Hoping you are able to return soon and that your home will have minimal damage. Such heartbreaking pictures.

Thanks Bernadette. Everyone I talk with at home is amazed at the amount of water that remains. But it is receding, thankfully.

Thanks, and I expect to get home Thursday. Reports say the roads should be clear by then.

At the end of the day, it’s not about how high the waters rose, but how how high the people rose when the water receded…
