  1. So. Yesterday I showed the rental via Skype to a couple from Missouri, and they immediately signed the lease I sent them and have put their checks in the mail. Great!

However, on the way over there, I saw an army of ants parading across the living room floor from the backdoor to the kitchen. They’d appeared out of nowhere. I dumped boric powder on the floor and skedaddled over to the rental. When I got back, most were dead, though more kept showing up from time to time. I killed every one of them and felt like a mass murderer. Then getting all that powder off the floor took vacuuming and 6 different moppings. I felt invaded, guilty, and out of control of my home. I had put a bottle of wine in the fridge a couple of days ago, thinking it might be nice some evening. I poured a glass, hoping to settle my nerves, and put the bottle back in the fridge.

Then I went to start the car to take me somewhere remote where I could walk without endangering anyone. I’m still on quarantine. The car wouldn’t start. Dead battery. I called two neighbors, and they managed to get it going again. I drove to Montrose and back to recharge the battery.

When I got back, I opened the refrigerator door to find that the wine had spilled all over the inside. A whole bottle. Another cleanup.

This morning the car was dead again, but a neighbor will restart it Thursday morning so that I can then, out of quarantine, drive it to the dealership.

In spite of all, it is a beautiful day here when the sun shines, which is does from time to time, and Sammy and I are cozy.

    Hope you’re doing well.
