A Chance for Change
The day approaches when democracy is redefined,
its security tested, challenged, and fought for.
Bruised, bleeding, maimed, the great divide widens
exposing decades of hate and fear.
Struggling to survive, Equality, Freedom, Inclusiveness stand guard over these United States,
alert to its frailty and vulnerability
but determined to live on.

Life as a Minority
I’ll soon be a minority.
The role reversal disquieting.
Where once I felt superior and in control,
My voice will go unheard, tuned out, ignored.
Viewed as ‘less than’, inconsequential, untruthful,
Living in the cold darkness of unworthiness.
Losing the loftiness my whiteness ensured,
I’ll be treated as a minority.

Leadership Lost?
Will our embarrassed Republic reclaim the cherished leadership title lost when
Truth is denied, twisted?
Lies are spoken, believed?
Insurrection is promoted, cheered?
Ignorance is exposed?
Do we have the integrity, fortitude, and desire to admit our vulnerability and mistakes?
Courage is required, honesty demanded, action necessary.
