A simple woman 

with demanding burdens   

Loving but limited,

Overwhelmed by life.

She did her best, 

With what she had

Children who struggled

Repeating her pattern 

She dreamed of a life 

Painted the color of her heart.

Nurtured the nugget within

now faded by time’s realities.

She was reminded of the gem’s vibrancy

Each time her name was spoken.

It is hard to hide the beauty of 

The simple woman Ruby.
