New trips off my tongue
Eagerly marching forward
But old gets stuck
Buried beneath wrinkles of time
Both anticipate the unexplored
New with hopeful fervor
Old with fearful weariness
It is the story of new and old
A new year begins
While the old ends
One to become, the other a tired has been.
