Parades and Celebrations

It’s been a week of celebrations in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  And in San Miguel, a celebration always includes parades, fireworks, crowds, color, and family gatherings. This year was no exception after two years of skipping all the festivities except firecrackers. Mexicans have a ‘thing’ about loud bangers set off in the middle of… Continue reading Parades and Celebrations

Parading in Blues

Mexicans celebrate with parades, and blue seems to be one of the more popular colors used to express fun and accolades. The first two pictures depict some parade characters, and the last picture caught my eye at an art gallery in San Miguel de Allende. Locos Abound

To say I’ve missed certain things during this year-plus of Covid 19 shutdown is an under statement. Prior to the pandemic, life happened in the streets of San Miguel de Allende. Parades, festivals, fiestas, holiday celebrations all took to the streets to acknowledge the Mexican sense of fun, playfulness, and traditions. Music, laughter, crowds, colors,… Continue reading Locos Abound

St. Michael’s Feast is SMA’s Home Grown Festival

I’m a bit late with my word prompt entry sponsored by Eugenia’s Brew n’ Spew Cafe, but this week’s celebrations in San Miguel seemed to fit the topic: Festive. Children in the Easter Pageantry

The Easter celebration in San Miguel continued throughout the week with parades, altars, and statues. I thought I would share some photos of the children who often led the parades scattering flowers ahead of statues of the Virgin Mother Mary and Jesus.

Parade Walking in San Miguel

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico is famous for its parades. In fact, there are parades of some sort at least monthly and often several times a month. Mexican Festivities

There is a festival/celebration/holiday/fiesta/parade or some other kind of excitement happening in San Miguel de Allende almost every weekend, and often during the middle of the week. And they are fun to watch and even participate in, if one is so inclined. I’m never certain what the celebrations are all about, many honor heroes, revolutions,… Continue reading Mexican Festivities
