I found these granite benches in the town of Barre, Vermont this summer. Barre, the self-proclaimed “Granite Center of the World”. is known for its great granite, and the town is adorned with wonderful street art showing the creativity of local articians. For more information and pictures of the granite art, go to this website: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barre_(city),_Vermont#Granite_industry
These particular benches show some of the tools that have been used by the granite miners. Very clever how the anvil (is that an anvil?), the hammers, and the lunch pail and thermos are carved out of the granite.
